Marty Robbins (1925-1983), "Country Music's Singing Cowboy", was one of the most diversely talented performers in country music, scoring hits in a number of genres. Known for his smooth tone and phrasing reminiscent of Gene Autry and Eddy Arnold, Robbins' is perhaps best known for his Grammy Award-winning 1959 hit, "El Paso". His first hit was a pop song, "White Sport Coat (and a Pink Carnation)" in 1957, but Robbins' strength was in songs of the West, such as "The Hanging Tree" and "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky" in addition to "El Paso". Robbins, who also had a calypso-style hit in 1959 with "Devil Woman", won another Grammy Award in 1971 for "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife", which reached No. 1 on the country charts and No. 42 on the pop charts. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982, the year before his death. Ink lightly smudged. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 14x21¾.
